You need to make a decision
Good advanced practice names uncertainty, tests what new evidence would change the decision and asks whether the next step is proportionate.
- State the decision you are being asked to make.
- Separate facts, inferences, assumptions and unknowns.
- Name the safeguarding risk if you under-react.
- Name the dignity, safety or evidence risk if you over-react.
- Identify what new information would change your view.
- Choose the safest proportionate action within your role.
