Curriculum, Outcomes & Assessment
Assessment should show better reasoning and safer application — not whether pupils can repeat frightening facts.
| Dimension | Emerging | Secure | Deep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knowledge | Recalls a key idea with support. | Explains the idea accurately in a new example. | Explains limits, exceptions or competing considerations. |
| Thinking | Notices one clue. | Separates fact, inference and assumption. | Updates judgement when new evidence appears and states uncertainty. |
| Action | Names a trusted adult. | Chooses a safe, non-investigative response. | Explains why the response is proportionate and what could increase risk. |
Use retrieval across stages: autonomy → evidence → safe help → adult responsibility → law/protection → prevention. Evidence of learning should include transfer to a new fictional scenario.
